- chuckprzyFounding MemberDash  · ÂNov 04The Art of the Self-PortraitAs a student of photography I began shooting self portraits early on, finding opportunities in many photographic assingments. As I moved from film to digital I continued to shoot and look for the iconic self portrait images, made much like (Lee Friedlander: Mirror of Myself, 1965) and (Andre' Kerte'sz: Self Portrait in Shadow, 1926). I have yet to shoot to their iconic caliber but continuously search to capture an image of similar distinction. As I continue to find images in old abandon farm houses, ghost towns and in an old theater, I move in that direction. These photos capture reflections in mirrors revealing a time and place of surroundings in my history of travel. - The Art of the Self-PortraitI feel that in my later years I strive to present a friendly cheerful persona to all, because I am that.. But my deeper self with its anxieties, fears and loneliness remains hidden and I think that my friends and close ones have just this one sided and incomplete image of me
