Since my friend is from Tamil Nadu, which not many tourists visit, we spent time visiting the major temples. In this particular temple, there was a brazier burning in which women could cleanse their soul by passing their hands over the flame before entering the part of the temple that’s exclusively reserved for women to pray.
This is part of a 5-and-a-half-week tour around the world. My friend invited me to visit India when I told her that I had a large block of free time. I said “Sure”.
