These two images are part of a video short based on self-portraiture, perhaps to be part of a longer project at some point. The past six months have provided a couple of those "hinge" moments in life, where foundations and assumptions get turned in unexpected directions. The first image is from May, when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. It shows part of a PET scan to see if the cancer had spread (it hadn't), while the second image shows my first grandson's hand in mine shortly after his arrival in September. Hinges in life.

For those who are viewing these comments, I want to bring your attention to the video that David has created here. Look at his link. It's powerful and sensational.!!
Love both of these! ...and the story behind them
Your first image is stark and shocking, as the diagnosis was shocking to you. Glad that the cancer was caught early. Your second image is precious - showing your relationship with your new grandson. It is symbolic of the passage of time and the succession generations in a family.
How brave of you to show your vulnerability in your art. A friend of mine was diagnosed with prostate cancer 2 years ago, and he showed me the X label marked on each of his hips, to guide weeks of X ray treatment. I used this in art expressions. My best wishes for your full recovery!
