Always on the lookout for beautiful, unique natural light, an early morning Florida rain resulted in just what I was looking for. Seeing the beauty of the post-rain lighting, I ventured out behind my then-Weston, FL lakefront Home to see what Photographic opportunities awaited me. There, between two rungs of my backyard fence was the most stunning, asymmetrical spider web I had ever encountered. What made this different, and spectacular in its presentation, were the raindrops that had been caught in the web, accenting the intricacy of what the Spider had created. Taking advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime discovery, I cropped out the rungs which did not add anything to the composition and positioned the Camera so as to accentuate the light shining through the beads of water. Finally, realizing that this scene could only be shot in Black and White, I captured the depth of field so that the area behind the web was dark so as to accentuate the beads except for a small area in the top right to give the image some balance. I memorialized this amazing creation as presented to me by Mother Nature in an image I titled: "Beaded Web"
"Beaded Web, Weston, FL"
So cool! I've never found a web like this. Maybe one day.
