11. OPEN YOUR EYES:
There's Multiple Revenue Sources
There are so many ways to get your photographs published, and usually in ways that you aren't expecting.
It is important to balance your financial needs and MAINTAINING CREDIBILITY with your images. In this section I talk about how to be clever in generating new revenue streams with high-caliber and prestigious partners.
a. Licensing: Do I license my images to be put on T-shirts or coffee mugs? What about Hallmark cards?
There are important factors to consider when you license your images. First of all - maintain the integrity and credibility of your work, so don't accept any offer just because it's a paycheck. Second, when you go into licensing, look for partners with elevated taste and always look to get involved with companies that will elevate your credibility, because the last thing you want is your images looking cheap on products that are poorly produced or manufactured.
In this video I give important tips on how to approach licensing opportunities and give several examples from my own experience.
b. Tips for Shooting for Stock Agencies: This is a highly overlooked source of revenue because it is not considered as an "artistic" form of photography. But it is a great way to get out and shoot commercially as much as you can, and in the meantime you can shoot FOR YOURSELF while shooting Stock Photography / Commercial.
f. Posters, Pt. 2 - A Different Approach: Get out of your bubble and expose your work in local venues, and it doesn't have to be a gallery! Listen to the story in this video and inspire yourself to follow this advice.
